Update

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We found out about 2 weeks ago that my mom finally sold her house in Iowa. She tried to get the closing date after Christmas so we could have one last Christmas in the house, but the new owner didn't want to wait that long. I told my mom that we probably wouldn't be able to make it out there on such short notice. So Beau and I decided that we would surprise my mom and go out there. I was so afraid that she was going to find out. I guess pretty much everyone else knew but her. I wish that we would have videotaped her reaction! She was pretty shocked! So we spent Friday and Saturday helping her move into a much smaller rental home. I can't believe all of the stuff she has! She hasn't decided where she wants to live for sure, so for now she's staying in Iowa. Rylie and Trey had a blast playing with their cousins! Beau had to get back to school because he had to write a paper and he didn't bring a laptop or anything with him. We were planning on staying at Amy's on Saturday night and leaving at about 3 or 4 in the morning. We got talking and just decided to skip sleeping and leave then (at 10:30 p.m.) The kids slept until about 8 the next morning, so the trip went a lot faster because we only stopped for gas, and didn't get out and walk around. It was so good to get home though. Being stuck in a car for that long is not fun!

Boutiques

Hey everyone! If you happen to be in the area tomorrow or Saturday, we are having another boutique. It is over here in Maeser by the Military shop and 7 eleven on the Maeser Highway. There has been a lot of advertising for it, so hopefully we'll be able to sell a lot! I've got quite a few new Christmas tutus (and the other Natalie and Robyn have made matching bows) great for holiday pictures!

Swine Flu

Despite all of the hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, and air sanitizer that I've used, Trey got the swine flu. I wasn't feeling great last week, but didn't think it was the flu. I felt a lot worse when I got the regular flu a few years ago, but now that I look back on it, I probably had it. Trey has had a cough for a few days, and then yesterday he woke up with a fever. I gave him medicine and the fever went away. He was ok until about 3:30, and then he just went downhill from there. He wanted to cuddle, and was just not acting like himself. (He never stays still) So I talked to Jarren and decided that we had better take him to the doctor.
They took his vitals and the doctor didn't seem to be that worried, but we had a flu test done anyway, and it came back positive. They said he will be contagious for about 7 days or until he doesn't have any symptoms for 24-48 hrs. He also said that about half of Vernal seemd to have the swine flu.
So we got home and tried to give him some tamiflu, and not even 10 seconds later, he threw it up. Jarren called the doctor and had to run back down to the pharmacy to pick up some anti-vomit medication. While he was gone, Trey threw up about 3 more times. I felt so bad, I just wanted to cry. Once he took the medication, we had to give him water through a little medicine syringe. Then he was able to eat a little and then fell asleep. We also had to wake him up about every 3-4 hrs during the night to get him to take medicine and give him water. He kept waking up and reaching out to make sure I was still by him...it was so hard to watch him like that. He had a few fevers during the night, (after giving medicine, one of them took an hour to break) and was just drenched by the time they broke.
He seems to be felling better this morning. He wanted breakfast and took medicine, and so far hasn't had a fever. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Watch your kids for even the smallest symptoms! I am so grateful that we decided to take him in last night, and didn't wait to see how it played out! Please keep us in your prayers, and that it will be mild and pass quickly!

School Time!

So we decided to put Rylie into kindergarten this year. We were all set to do another year of preschool until her birthday and she was reading her birthday cards! So we decided that we would try kindergarten. She is also riding the bus to and from school. I was really nervous about letting her ride the bus, but I think that is her favorite part of the day. She looked so grown up for her first day. I can't believe I have a kid old enough to go to school!
We are still working on the potty training with Trey. He went on the big potty for the first time last night! We were pretty excited. I thought he'd be excited about it too, and that he might want to go again today......nope. He didn't want anything to do with it. I've heard boys are a lot harder to train than girls, and Rylie was not easy!

July 4th

We went to the parade on Saturday morning. Jarren was pretty excited about the jets that fly over just before the parade starts. We didn't really do anything special that day. We just stayed around the house and the kids played outside. That night we went to the fireworks. Rylie, of course, had to go to the bathroom just as the fireworks were about to start. Trey was so scared he had to sit in my lap with his head under the blanket.
Jarren got the go ahead to take the tests for his journeymans license. His first one is scheduled for the first weekend in August. He's pretty nervous, but I think he'll do ok. He's been studying and practicing quite a bit. We've been trying to do a little landscaping in our backyard. I'll post some pictures of what we're doing. We got a swingset (best investment ever!) and it really helps out with my babysitting kids too. Yesterday I took the truck down to get sand for the sandbox, I was pretty loaded down! I was too low to get the truck over the curb so I had to empty out some of the sand and wheelbarrow it up the steps and across the backyard until I had unloaded enough to be able to get over the curb. I got most of it unloaded, and then waited until Jarren got home to do the rest. The kids had a blast playing in it, and Rylie kept saying that this was the best day of her life! She gets pretty sentimental about things!

...More Slip 'N Slide

Ok so I can't figure out how to post more that 5 pictures at a time so here are the last of the slip 'n slide pictures. It was all fun and games until Maley got thrown! She did not like that at all!
This was our last day in Iowa. It was a fast good little trip. The trip home didn't take quite as long. I made sure Rylie went to the bathroom everywhere we stopped. Plus, I planned our stops at the Targets along the way, so I had fun!

More Slip 'N Slide

To make things more interesting my mom and Beau started throwing the kids down the slip 'n slide.

Slip 'N Slide

I forgot how hot and humid Iowa was during the summer! The kids decided to cool off with the slip 'n slide. Trey and Hunter weren't really interested in the sliding part, they just played in the little pool at the end.

Junction Days

The kids took a train ride before the parade started. There were some pretty serious drivers out there! Everyone was throwing candy, and the kids filled an entire shoebox full! I should say Rylie, Hunter, and Amauri were getting the candy and Trey was guarding the box. He was trying to eat it just as fast as the kids were putting it in there!

Train

So before we left, we had to take a ride on the train because Trey and Hunter are obsessed with them! Grandma was brave and had all of the grandkids sit on the bench with her.

Rainforest

My favorite part of the zoo has to be the rainforest. The orange monkey was one of the first things the kids saw. It had jumped up onto the railing, and was just checking out the people. It's a little hard to see, but the black monkey has a little baby that had been born about a month before. The kids were pretty excited to see the little baby. Rylie and Amauri were really brave and went across the bridge. Rylie looks a little terrified doesn't she?! She made it across just fine. The rainforest has two levels, but we only made it through the top level before the kids were dying of hunger!

Aquarium

Trey was pretty nervous about being really close to the sharks. I had a hard time getting him to sit on my lap because they kept swimming overhead. It took awhile to convince him that there was a thick wall of glass between us and all the fish and water. My mom had knee surgery before she left Utah and she was still gimping around when we got to Iowa. We were afraid that we were going to have to get her a wheelchair!

Iowa and the Zoo

I had a little break from babysitting so I decided to zip on over to Iowa for a quick trip. Ok the 14 hour zip turned into about a 20 hour zip because we stopped so many times! Everytime we got going Rylie decided that she had to go to the bathroom. We made it to Amy's in Omaha and spent the night there, and met my mom and Amauri at the zoo the next day. The zoo is one of my favorite places so we always try to make it whenever we go to Iowa. The kids really like it too.

State Tennis

Beau was the one man Duchesne tennis team this year again. This was at State Tennis. He ended up taking 1st beating the kid that had beat him twice during the season. It's been pretty neat to be able to watch him play these past couple of years. The kids liked to go and watch him play, but we're not use to having to be quiet during a sport, so I made sure that I took lots of things for the kids to do. We were working on getting Trey of the binkie, and I ended up having to give in and give it to him during this so that he would be quiet! That was the last time he had it, and I am happy to report that he is now completely off the binkie!

My Closet

I have been begging Jarren to build me a storage closet in our family room, so finally after 2 years, he's finally started it! In his defense though, he's never built anything before so he was pretty nervous about starting it. So he got one of the guys he works with to come over and line things up for him to do it. I'm pretty impressed with how well he's done. We've got it all enclosed in, and just need to rehang the trim and paint the door. We have a few shelves out in, and as soon as he wires it, our freezer will be going in there too! Now I'll be able to do laundry without hitting into it!

So tired

This year we are on the 1-4 church schedule which is right during nap time. So Trey usually will fall asleep on our 1 mile trip home, this time he made it through the door, but not much further! The scattered diapers on the floor are because he had to dig through the diaper bag to get the binkie!

Easter Egg Hunt

My mom told me that about a month after Easter, they were still finding eggs!

Easter

We spent Easter at my Grandma's house in Duchesne. The kids had a lot of fun coloring the eggs...Jarren did too! The batman shirt is Rylie's favorite!
